In 1998 four older residents started a
computer course in the lounge of the Orchard sheltered housing
scheme in Moulsecoomb.
The aim was to encourage older people
to learn about basic computer skills and keep up with the
Grandchildren, and perhaps later to chat with friends and family
via the Internet. Jackie Somerville, a development worker for
older people started the course. The project was funded by
Anchor Trust (Jackie's employer) and a grant of £5000 from NAISE.
