Objects of the Forum

  • To help improve the lives of older people.

  • A national free transport scheme for pensioners.

  • To promote the interests and well being of all retired people.

  • To relate to other retired pensioner organisations.

  • To seek improvements in the present state pensions, especially of those who have contributed in work, time, and taxation.

  • To promote the term Senior instead of Elderly.

  • The restoration of the link between pensions and earnings.

  • An absolute assurance from Government that the State Pension will not be means-tested.

  • To respect the status, and uphold the importance of Seniors in society.

  • To obtain better programmes and representation through the media for Seniors and to seek to remove the Television Licence Tax for ALL state Pensioners.

  • To oppose Age Discrimination

  • To seek more support for Carers in the Community.

  • To encourage younger people to think about THEIR pension and get involved NOW!

    Beliefs...

The removal of the link with average wages by the previous government has increased the penury circumstances of the State Pensioner in the UK, this has been compounded by the present governments stance which has increased the gap between the State Pension and the average wage, and continues to do so.....

The pursuance of a reduction in income tax by those more fortunate members of society does nothing to address the problems of the average pensioner who does not pay tax because of a low income and obviously time is not on their side.

It is therefore our belief that should respective governments continue to ignore our plight, that the Pensioner movement consisting of many millions of votes, use their electoral power to oppose those parties who fail to address the pensioners problems.
