Northwich Vale Royal Oak & District Pensioners Association

A truth....

" How we treat our old people is a crucial test of our National quality, a Nation that lacks gratitude to those who have honestly worked for her in the past whilst they had the strength to do so, does not deserve a future, for she has lost her sense of Justice and her instinct of mercy."

Lloyd George

Objects of the Association

To promote the interests and well being of all retired people.

To relate to other retired pensioner organisations.

To seek improvements in the present state pensions, especially of those who have contributed in work, time, and taxation.

To promote the term Senior Citizen instead of Old Age Pensioner.

To respect the status, and uphold the importance of the Senior Citizen in Society as a whole.

Principle Promotions

To seek the introduction of a National Discount Card for State Pensioners.

To oppose Supermarkets who discount in Multiples which disregard Pensioner needs and income.

To obtain better programmes and representation through the media for Senior Citizens, especially the BBC, and to seek to reduce or remove the Television Licence Tax for the State Pensioner.

To oppose Medical Age Discrimination in the Health Service.

To seek more support for Carers in the Community.

Beliefs...

The removal of the link with average wages by the previous government has increased the penury circumstances of the State Pensioner in the UK, this has been compounded by the present governments delaying processes which has increased the gap between the State Pension and the average wage, and continues to do so.....

The link with the Retail Price Index has no validity in real terms of the income of today, the goods and services to which it refers, have no relative value in regard to age requirement, and the Pensioner has consequently been trapped in a comparative factor which respective governments have used to their advantage so they can pander to more vociferous sections of society who have youth and money to present their claims.

The pursuance of a reduction in income tax by those more fortunate members of society does nothing to address the problems of the average pensioner who does not pay tax because of a low income and obviously time is not on their side.

It is therefore our belief that should respective governments continue to ignore our plight, that the Pensioner movement consisting of many millions of votes, use their electoral power to oppose those parties who fail to address the pensioners problems.
