TUC Pensioners' Committee
A list of Trade Unions and contacts is available on the TUC
Web Site
There is a TUC Pensioners'
Committee, which was formed in December 1988. Members are
retired trade unionists nominated by the TUC's affiliated unions. It is
chaired by a member of the TUC General Council. The Committee advises and
reports to the General Council on all issues of concern to pensioners.
Its Statement of Aims and Objectives is:
"The TUC believes that all people should be entitled to a dignified,
secure and independent retirement. In order to achieve this, pensioners must
be provided with an income, through state and occupational schemes, which will
maintain a style of life comparable with that enjoyed at work. Those over
60 years of age do not represent a burden on society to be given
concessions by the Government of the day. Pensioners are those who have worked
for this country, raised future generations for this country and defended this
country"
