SCOTO is a small charity operating without any grants.  This year they aim is to send 100 old age pensioners on the holiday of a life time to escape the winter and isolation that many will suffer.

The people they hope to be sending have never been on a holiday in their life, and as they are living on their own it will be nice for them to enjoy some company with people of their own age and outlook.

The benefits are many, ie adult company, feeling cared for, and being in a new environment. All this could be the experience to help them take a new outlook on a sometimes bleak future which many of them face, and perhaps a life extension.

The government are reluctant to bring to the attention of the public, that each winter over twenty thousand (YES 20.000) OAPs will die from cold and cold related illness. Many die to the fact that they cannot afford to heat their homes, many die from hypothermia due to this, many are forced to sleep in their every day clothes to keep warm, this year with the rises in electricity and gas at approx 30% AND NO INCREASE FOR OAPS you can imagine the outcome the silence of the politicians is disgraceful.

The OAPs many who fought and went through wars for this country, to enable us to live in a democratic and free country which is the envy of many, are being disregarded and passed by, surely this cannot be right.

Their income is generated from unpaid volunteers, many who are OAPs.

 which is a great help but they need to generate more donations to reach their goals for the holidays.
