14 members attended the Pensioners Parliament 2006. We also had the services of the West Lancashire Town Crier and
his wife - in their costumes - to lead us from the North pier to the
Winter Gardens conference on 16th May 2006
The West Lancashire Pensioners Fssociation was founded in Skelmersdale in 1998 and later transferred to Ormskirk
At the AGM in March 2004 officers were elected, and the
founder Secretary was elected President.
At this meeting the name was changed from West Lancashire
Pensioners Association to the present title of West
Lancashire Pensioners Forum.
this was because there was a clash of initials [WLPA] with a
charitable Play Association.
We are non political group and aim to represent the
needs of Pensioners within our area. Our long term aim
is to have our own base, to set up a pensioner's point of
reference.
The Forum has forged links with the District Council,
Lancashire County Council, The Primary Care Trust who have
been very supportive and Age concern who have been equally
supportive. We are affiliated to the National
Pensioners Convention and The North West Pensioners
Association.
The Forum as recently become formal members of the recently
introduced Older Peoples Partnership Board.
